Yanks' Tanaka goes on DL

NEW YORK – The New York Yankees put right-hander Masahiro Tanaka on the 10-day disabled list because of shoulder inflammation.

The Yankees made the move Saturday and recalled righty Giovanny Gallegos from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The former Japanese ace is 8-10 with a career-high 4.92 ERA in 23 starts.

Boston placed second baseman Dustin Pedroia on the disabled list for the third time this year because of knee trouble and recalled left-hander Robby Scott from Triple-A Pawtucket. ... Miami president David Samson confirmed a signed agreement has been submitted to Major League Baseball to sell the team to a group that includes former New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter. Samson says the MLB ownership committee will review the transaction Wednesday at the owners' meetings in Chicago. The Marlins anticipate major league owners will approve the deal at a September meeting, and closing will take place in early October. ... Washington right-hander Stephen Strasburg will make a minor league rehab start Monday at Class A Potomac.
