TinCaps close in on playoff spot

The offense exploded Saturday night on the way to a 10-3 victory over the West Michigan Whitecaps at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, Michigan.
Gabrial Arias led the way by going 3 for 5 with three runs and an RBI. Agustin Ruiz was 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBI, as the TinCaps racked up 16 hits, 10 more than the Whitecaps.
Esteury Ruiz was 2 for 3 with two runs, three RBI and a stolen base.
The teams came into the night tied in the standings and vying for the Midwest League Eastern Division's second half wildcard spot and the right to play the Great Lakes Loons in a best-of-3 series that could start Wednesday at Parkview Field.
Fort Wayne's starting pitcher, Henry Henry, was terrific by working seven innings and allowing two runs and four hits, striking out one and walking one, dropping his earned-run average to 8.66 for the season.
West Michigan's starting pitcher, Chance Kirby, lasted only three innings, allowing six runs and seven hits, while striking out three.
