Beloit 10 TinCaps 1
TinCaps fail to secure sweep
The TinCaps managed just three hits, and Beloit scored in its final five times at bat to win 10-1 and avoid a sweep Saturday at Pohlman Field in Beloit, Wisconsin.
Fort Wayne (15-19) still took two out of three games in the series, its first series victory in exactly a month, since it swept Dayton in four straight games April 8-11.
TinCaps starting pitcher Sam Keating was making his Midwest League debut and pitched three scoreless innings to open the game.
In the fourth, he gave up doubles to Payton Squier and Anthony Churlin, bringing in the game's first run and ending his day after 31/3 innings, five hits, one strikeout and no walks.
That was all the offense Beloit (10-21) starter Bryce Conley would need. Conley (1-3) pitched six no-hit, shutout innings, striking out four and walking two.
It was the first time he'd pitched more than five innings all season and the first time he'd given up no runs in a start.
Conley earned the victory.
