TinCaps drop 3rd straight
The TinCaps managed just two hits, Burlington relief pitcher Kyle Tyler pitched six shutout innings and the Bees won 5-0 on Thursday at Community Field in Burlington, Iowa.
The loss was the third in a row for Fort Wayne (39-49, 6-14 second half), which has scored just one run in its last three games combined. The TinCaps are in last place in the Midwest League's Eastern Division.
The Bees (48-42, 9-11) scored all five of their runs in the first three innings off Fort Wayne starter Sam Keating. Keating lasted 22/3 innings, giving up five hits, including a pair of home runs, and five runs. He took the loss for the third start in a row to drop to 3-6. Kevin Maitan and Francisco Del Valle homered for the Bees, while Grant Little and Michael Curry had Fort Wayne's only hits, both singles.
Adrian Martinez pitched 41/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the TinCaps, striking out five and giving up just one hit. All-Star reliever Henry Henry also pitched a scoreless inning.
