Salamonie offering winter camp event
Salamonie Lake is offering Silence of a Winter's Night camping Saturday.
The program runs from 3 p.m. until dark and includes setting up camp, a campfire meal and learning about winter camping from John and Boo Salb. An owl prowl will also take place in the evening.
Breakfast will be the following morning where donations will also be accepted.
Camping is encouraged but not required and if the weather is too cold, the interpretive center will be open and heated for sleeping.
The cost is $5 per participant and advanced registration is required as space is limited. To register, call 260-468-2127.
Preschool to offer lesson on trees
The Salamonie Preschool is offering a tree survival lesson in “How do tress survive in the winter?” for children ages 2 to 5 and their adults. The class is 10-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-2 p.m. Jan. 24.
The cost is $2 per child and advanced registration is appreciated by calling 260-468-2127.
Outdoor Indiana issue available
The most recent issue of Outdoor Indiana magazine is available. The January-February issue includes stories on the movement to preserve Indiana's round and polygonal barns, of which only 73 of the 226 built between 1874 and 1936 remain.
