Thunderstorms possible through tonight, Saturday

Thunderstorms are possible through tonight in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, with the best chances during late afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service said.

Isolated heavy rain and gusty winds may be possible, the weather service said. It said afternoon heat indices will rise into the mid- to upper 90s.

Thunderstorms are possible again Saturday, the weather service said.

In an area that includes Mercer County, Ohio, it said scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop today. A few strong to severe storms are possible, with the potential for damaging winds and very heavy rain.
