The Journal Gazette

A man is in critical condition after his vehicle rear-ended a city of Fort Wayne dump truck stopped at a traffic signal early today.

Police said the truck was on Hanna Street when the southbound motorist hit the other vehicle sometime before 1:52 a.m.

Officers found the man unconscious inside his vehicle and paramedics took him to the hospital in serious condition, but a doctor later said his injuries were life-threatening, according to a news release.

The truck driver was not hurt.

Police believe alcohol is a factor in the crash that remains under investigation.

The intersection of Hanna and Wallace streets was closed.
