Matthew LeBlanc | The Journal Gazette

The man convicted of raping a 15-year-old girl he took from a bus stop last year was ordered today to spend 52 years in prison.

Jurors Oct. 10 convicted William J. Ray, 36, of rape, kidnapping, criminal confinement, burglary and sexual battery. He was sentenced this morning in Allen Superior Court.

The girl was waiting for a school bus at Smith Street and East Rudisill Boulevard Nov. 29, 2018, and she told investigators Ray grabbed her from behind, dragged her to a nearby shed and sexually assaulted her.

Now 16, the girl said she used her cellphone to contact a friend during the attack.

Jurors needed just 1 1/2 hours before delivering guilty verdicts on each count.
