Fort Wayne fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that damaged a duplex Thursday night.

Crews arrived at 10:47 p.m. to 1933 Spring St. and found heavy smoke coming from second floor windows and the roof of the residence, according to a news release.

Three adults made it out safely. Rescuers found four pets at the home, but two died, officials said.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about a half-hour.

No one was injured.
