Verbatim: AmplifyArt projects each reach donation goals

The Journal Gazette

Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne issued this news release today:

FORT WAYNE, IN -- The three projects chosen for this cycle of #AmplifyArt exceeded their goals and will become a reality thanks to community support through social media advocacy and online donations.

  • Cinema Center's Spectator Lounge Screen raised $5,075 of their $5,000 goal. Cinema Center will convert its Spectator Lounge space, currently used for events, meetings, gallery, discussions and other programming into a second screening room with 40 seats.
  • The Derby Girls Documentary raised $4,032 of their $3,000 goal. This feature length documentary will showcase the lives of the skaters who comprise the Fort Wayne Derby Girls and what drives them to play their sport.
  • Indiana Center for Middle East Peace's The Andalusian Trail raised $4,320 of their $4,000 goal. Through story and song, The Andalusian Trail celebrates the diversity of cultures that came to settle medieval Andalusia (southern Spain) -- from India, North Africa, and the Middle East -- the coexistence of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and the rich exchange of musical ideas, instruments, and culture.

Amplify Art! is a crowdfunding program that mobilizes community support for and awareness of diverse creative projects. Each Amplify Art! campaign takes place over one month; this cycle took place October 1-31. Each project was seeded with $1,000, and donations from community members to each project were matched dollar for dollar up to a total of $1,500 by 3Rivers Federal Credit Union.

Applications for the next cycle of Amplify Art! are due March 1, 2018, and the cycle runs from May 1-31, 2018. Read the full grant guidelines or visit for more information.
