An Allen County judge will consider moving the trial of a woman charged with felony neglect in the death of her 2-year-old son last year.
Amber Garrett, 26, asked in a motion filed in February to move the case or bring in jurors from another county for the trial, which is set to begin in September. Court documents say news coverage and Facebook pages dedicated to the case could bias potential jurors.
In court Tuesday, Garrett's attorney, John Bohdan, also questions whether activists who have written messages such as "charge Amber wth murder" in chalk outside the Allen County Courthouse might sway the opinions of the public and potential jurors.
Garrett is charged with two counts of felony neglect in the death Malakai Garrett, whom investigators have said was beaten.
Allen Superior Court Judge Fran Gull did not rule on the request Tuesday.
