New Haven company voluntarily recalls meats

The Journal Gazette

Custom Quality Meats of New Haven is voluntarily recalling all of its cooked and heat-treated meat products sold under the Custom Quality Meats and Will Lake Farms names with an Indiana state inspection logo.

During a recent inspection, the Indiana State Board of Animal Health said, the company was not able to verify through recordkeeping that the meats were adequately cooled to ensure safety during storage.

The recall applies to all varieties of hot dogs, beef sticks and beef stick bites, summer sausage and bacon, as well as Canadian style bacon, bratwurst and hams.

Customers can either destroy the meat or return the product to a Custom Quality Meat store.

The products were sold at Custom Quality Meats, 2616 Ryan Road, New Haven; Custom Quality Meats, 3227 Carroll Road; Teds Market; Nolt's Marketplace; and Custom Quality Meats' booth at the Fort Wayne farmer's market.
