A pursuit in New Haven early Tuesday morning led to a crash and the arrest of a 26-year-old man.

Just after 1 a.m., New Haven officers responded to a call of a suspicious person in the 10000 block of Graystone Cove, a statement from the department said.

It said when officers found the vehicle and tried to stop it, a pursuit ensued.

The vehicle went off the road in the 10000 block of Bookcliff Cove and continued off-road to the Cameron Court Apartments in the 10000 block of Seiler Road, when the driver drove into a ditch near Graystone Cove.

The driver, Jared Starkey, was extricated from the vehicle by emergency workers.

A bag of what appeared to be synthetic drugs was found under Starkey when he was taken out of the car, police said.

Starkey was taken to a local hospital to be checked for injuries and later was released.

Starkey was charged with felony resisting law enforcement and possession of a synthetic drug along with a misdemeanor charge and infractions, and is in the Allen County Jail.
