A Fort Wayne man scheduled to go to trial tomorrow on charges he tried to kill two people has pleaded guilty.
Gabriel Hicks, 30, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder in Allen Superior Court last week. He likely will be sentenced to 56 years in prison when he is sentenced Aug. 22.
A sentencing enhancement that would have labeled him a habitual offender will be dismissed at sentencing.
Hicks shot two men Sept. 21 at Link's Wonderland on Creighton Avenue, leaving both badly injured. One man was shot in the side, chest and back; the other was shot in the head, chest and back, according to court documents.
Witnesses told police Hicks had been in a long-running dispute with the family of the men he shot.
A three-day trial had been scheduled to start tomorrow morning.
