Matthew LeBlanc | The Journal Gazette

A Fort Wayne man charged in the 2018 shooting death of a teen in a drugstore parking lot was sentenced today to spend 20 years of a 30-year sentence in prison.

Ammar K. Haroun, 23, had been charged with murder in the July 21, 2018, slaying of Carlos Hamilton, whose body was found slumped over the wheel of his 2012 Buick at the Walgreens store at 2410 Coliseum Blvd. N. Haroun pleaded guilty in September to voluntary manslaughter as part of an agreement with prosecutors.

He was sentenced this morning in Allen Superior Court.

Police said Haroun tried to rob Hamilton, and each man was shot.
