Cardinal IG to add 50 jobs in $12.5 million Fremont expansion

Cardinal IG, a supplier of glass products, plans a $12.5 million expansion in Fremont that will add 50 jobs.

The company said in a news release after normal business hours that the expansion will be a three-year project. It will allow for continued growth of the organization by creating additional glass fabrication capacity and streamlining the existing plant with technology improvements.

The new jobs will be hourly and salaried. The average hourly wage is $19; salaried wages vary based on the position.

Cardinal IG has developed a strong relationship with the Town of Fremont since it began operations in 1998, the release said.

"We are excited to announce these plans as it reinforces our commitment to the community by continuing to operate a world-class facility that fabricates highly advanced, green energy saving glass products for the window and door industry right here in Fremont," Plant Manager Michael Connell said in a statement.

The Fremont plant at 301 E. McSwain Drive currently employs 310, Connell said in an email response to questions.

The expansion will add 10,000 square feet to the existing 400,000-square-foot building.
