New Haven to begin work on attracting development investment
Rosa Salter Rodriguez | The Journal Gazette
An idea advanced by some candidates in the last month's election in New Haven will begin to take shape at a meeting tonight.
New Haven's long-dormant Economic Development Commission plans a meeting to start work on new ways to attract investment to promote and revitalize commercial and residential development.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. at New Haven city hall, 815 Lincoln Highway East.
City Council incumbent Craig Dellinger, R-3rd, and successful Republican mayoral candidate Steve McMichael proposed starting an Economic Development Target Area to encourage retail, restaurant, hotel and multifamily housing along Indiana 930. The area would join existing incentives for industrial development in New Haven.
