The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from Friday evening through Saturday evening for northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.
Widespread moderate to heavy rain will develop Friday evening and continue into Saturday evening, the weather service said. It said rain amounts of 2 to 4 inches are likely across the area, with locally higher amounts possible.
Flooding of low-lying areas and along small creeks and streams is likely, the weather service said. In addition, it said, significant river flooding is likely to develop this weekend and extend into much of next week.
The weather service asked residents to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action if flooding develops, it said.
