A flood watch continues through this evening in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, the National Weather Service said today.
Widespread moderate to locally heavy rain is to move across the area this morning, with additional rain expected into this afternoon, the weather service said.
It said additional rain amounts will range from around an inch southeast of a line from Warsaw to Wauseon, Ohio, and more than 2 inches northwest of that line. A few embedded thunderstorms this morning may cause locally higher amounts, the weather service said.
It said total rain during the storm will range from 3 inches to as much as 5 inches by Sunday morning.
Flooding of streams, creeks and low-lying areas, including roads and underpasses, is expected, the weather service said. It said significant river flooding and rises on inland lakes are expected later this weekend and through much of next week.
Those living in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action if flooding develops, the weather service said.
