A Fort Wayne woman has been charged in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man.
Police found Diquan Meriwether, 19, of Fort Wayne, outside a car parked Tuesday in the 3100 block of Santa Lisa Court, according to court documents released today. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Kennisha Jackson, 19, was charged today with aggravated battery and battery with a deadly weapon.
A witness told police Meriwether went to Jackson's home to collect money. A gunshot was heard, and Meriwether ran from the house and collapsed outside, near the car, court documents say.
Jackson told investigators Meriwether brandished a gun, he dropped it, she picked it up and fired, a probable cause affidavit alleges. Another witness said she saw Jackson and Meriwether with guns.
Jackson is being held at the Allen County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond, and a court hearing is scheduled Tuesday.
After an autopsy, the Allen County coroner's office determined that Meriwether died from a gunshot wound. His death is the 2nd homicide in Allen County this year.
