Gas prices dropped across the country this week to $2.51 a gallon, three cents less than last week, four-cents less than a month ago and 25-cents more than a year ago, according to AAA-The Auto Club Group.
In Fort Wayne, gas prices remained steady during the week with $2.33 a gallon on Monday and $2.34 a gallon on Sunday. That compares with $2.47 a gallon last week, $2.50 a gallon a month ago and $2.26 a gallon a year ago.
The increase in gasoline stocks is to blame for the easing of gas pump prices, said Jeanette Casselano, an AAA spokeswoman.
"Typically, we see lower demand during this time of year. When combined with higher stock levels, pump prices usually decrease in response,”, Casselano said in a statement.
AAA predicted that gas prices will continue to drop through the end of this week.
