The second of three required approvals of another deadline extension for Electric Works fell into place this morning during a special meeting of the Allen County Fort Wayne Capital Improvement Board.
Board members voted unanimously to allow the project's financing deadline be extended from Feb. 1 to April 30 and the closing date extended from April 30 to June 30.
The project along Broadway just south of downtown had its deadline extension approved by a 3-2 vote Monday by the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission. The Allen County Commissioners, who meet Friday, must also approve the extension.
A formal announcement of the identity of a large anchor tenant is expected tomorrow.
Electric Works is a multimillion-dollar renovation and reuse of the former General Electric campus by developer RTM Ventures. The extension is the third such request made by the developer.
