Indiana released its full 31-game men's basketball schedule for the upcoming season today.
The Hoosiers will open the season with seven consecutive home games against mid- and low-major opponents, meaning they could easily be 7-0 going into the Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchup at Assembly Hall against Florida State on Dec. 3. The Seminoles have reached the Sweet 16 in back-to-back seasons and project to be Indiana's first real test of the season. Of course, that implies the Hoosiers will take care of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Nov. 30, probably not a foregone conclusion as the Jackrabbits have reached the NCAA Tournament three times in the last four years.
Indiana opens the Big Ten schedule Dec. 7 with a road trip to Madison to take on Wisconsin in one of the toughest environments in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers' other early-season conference matchup is a home game against Nebraska and new coach Fred Hoiberg. The Cornhuskers beat Indiana at Assembly Hall 66-51 last season in one of the Hoosiers' worst performances of the season.
Indiana's other non-conference games are against UConn (at the Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden on Dec. 10), Notre Dame (at the Crossroads Classic on Dec. 21) and Arkansas (at Assembly Hall on Dec. 29 in a rematch of last season's 73-72 thriller in Fayetteville, which the Razorbacks won).
In Big Ten play, there are high-profile matchups against Michigan State at Assembly Hall on Jan. 23, home against Purdue on Feb. 8, the return meeting against the Boilermakers in West Lafayette on Feb. 27 and a home matchup against the Badgers in the regular-season finale on March 7. Indiana does not travel to Michigan State, nor does it host Michigan.
