Former Indiana forward Freddie McSwain Jr. signed a deal to play with Botafago of Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), the top basketball league in Brazil, he confirmed on Twitter. He spent his 2018-19 campaign playing in Canada for the Moncton Magic, where he averaged 18.5 minutes in 34 games, including two starts, while scoring 8.5 points per game.
McSwain played two seasons at Indiana, seeing action in 62 games and starting nine from 2016 to 2018. He averaged 4.5 rebounds as a senior in 2017-18 and was always a strong force under the basket on both ends of the floor, frequently giving the Hoosiers second chances with offensive boards. His style of play is useful to just about any team and he has never shied away from doing dirty work down low.
