Fort Wayne is going for its fourth series sweep of the year tonight at Parkview Field. In April, the TinCaps had a 4-game home sweep of Dayton and a 4-game sweep of South Bend in May. In June, Fort Wayne swept a 3-game series at Bowling Green.
In a somewhat underwhelming last month for Fort Wayne, the TinCaps are also going for three wins in a row for the first time since they were in the midst of a 4-game winning streak from June 11-14.
Despite Peoria being the worst team in the Midwest League and losers of its last 11 of 12, a win over the Chiefs will keep Fort Wayne's sliver of a playoff hope alive.
Confidence is soaring around the clubhouse today after the TinCaps pulled off an improbable comeback Thursday night against the Chiefs. Down 11-2 in the fourth inning, Fort Wayne executed a near perfect final five innings to get the win 12-11.
Omar Cruz is expected to be on the mound for the TinCaps. He's posting a 3.77 ERA in 14 1/2 innings with Fort Wayne. He's 1-0 on the season.
