A pair of former TinCaps were involved in a blockbuster trade Tuesday night and will reportedly be headed to Cleveland.
Left-handed starter Logan Allen, who played for the TinCaps in 2016 and 2017, and powerful outfielder Franmil Reyes, who was in Fort Wayne in 2014 and 2015, will move from San Diego to the Indians, in a deal that will reportedly send Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer to the Cincinnati Reds and top Reds prospect Taylor Trammel to the Padres' minor-league system. Other pieces are also reportedly involved.
Allen made his big-league debut in June and went 2-3 with a 6.75 ERA in eight appearances (four starts) before being sent back to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday. The 22-year-old was solid in 2016 with the TinCaps, going 3-4 with a 3.33 ERA, but he was dominant in 2017. In the latter season, he posted a 2.11 ERA in 68 1/3 innings, going 5-4 while striking out 85 before being promoted to High-A.
Reyes, 24, has some of the best raw power of any player in baseball and has put it to use this season, clubbing 27 home runs and slugging .535. He played two full seasons in Fort Wayne and was a fan favorite, hitting 19 home runs, driving in 121 and scoring 129 runs over 251 games. He reached the majors in 2018 and was a breakout star, hitting 16 homers in 87 games.
