The home portion of the Komets’ schedule was unveiled today and the opener will be Oct. 12 at Memorial Coliseum against the Kalamazoo Wings.
The Komets’ 68th regular season’s final home game will be April 5 against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Of the Komets’ 36 games at the Coliseum, 12 will be on Fridays, 12 on Saturdays and five on Sundays.
“We really like our schedule for the 19-20 Komet season (with) 31 of 36 home games on weekends and holidays (making) this one of the most attractive schedules ever for Komet fans,” team president Michael Franke said.
The annual Thanksgiving game will be against the Wheeling Nailers. The New Year’s Eve game will be against the Toledo Walleye. And the Komets will play on Valentine’s Day for the first time since 2014, as they’ll take on the Indy Fuel.
Rivals Toledo and Kalamazoo will be the most frequent opponents at the Coliseum with seven visits each. Indy will be at the Coliseum six times. Cincinnati and Wheeling will be there four times apiece, for a total of 28 games against divisional foes.
The Idaho Steelheads will play the Coliseum for the first time on Jan. 10 and 12. And the Jacksonville Icemen, formerly a division rival in Evansville, will return to the Coliseum for games Oct. 25 and 26.
November will be the busiest month with seven games, including a Nov. 1 game against the Florida Everblades, who are currently competing in the conference finals with Newfoundland, Toledo and Tulsa.
Game times will remain the same: 7:30 p.m. for all games except Fridays (8 p.m.) and Sundays (5 p.m.).
Season tickets with special early bird prices are on sale through May 31 at the Komets’ offices, 1010 Memorial Way, and information is available at komets.com or by calling 260-483-0011.
