K's to police ice as Batmen and Groots

JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette

I’m like a kid in a candy store when I hear this stuff.

The ECHL announced today its league-wide partnership with DC for “Superhero Nights” and the Komets’ will be Jan. 18 at Memorial Coliseum. They will wear Batman-themed jerseys and the Toledo Walleye, the visiting team, will be the Jokers.

There will again be Marvel nights this season, too, and the Komets’ will be April 3. They will wear Groot-themed jerseys, which leads one to wonder whether every quote from a player that night will be, “I am Groot.” (Toledo is also the opponent that night, but the Walleye will be appearing as...the Walleye.)

Video from the Komets’ scrimmage today is above. Mason Bergh and Connor Sanvido score two goals apiece. Also scoring were Brady Shaw and Shawn St-Amant.
