The Komets are about to begin their second, and final, preseason game of the year against the Wheeling Nailers. The biggest thing I'm looking for is consistency.
While the 5-4 overtime victory by the Komets on Friday was impressive in the end, it was also a familiar script: one of inconsistency. The Komets scored the first two goals and dominated the first half of the game, then gave up four consecutive goals before rallying late.
I know it's preseason, but I think I speak for everyone when I write the unpredictability of the team last year got dizzying and tiresome.
In case you're wondering where Brad Ross has been – he was one of the bigger free-agent signings – he injured himself very early into the first practice (I've heard gripes about the ice conditions) and hasn't been back on the ice since. The good news is they could, potentially, stash him on injured reserve.
