The Mad Ants announced Wednesday they have acquired the rights to forward Omari Johnson from the Memphis Hustle in exchange for the rights to forward Jarrod Uthoff and guard Chris Fowler.
In 44 games last season, Johnson started 38 games for the Memphis Hustle. He averaged 16.5 points and 6.4 rebounds in 27.9 minutes per game last season.
Johnson earned a call-up to the Memphis Grizzlies and appeared in four games at the end of last season. He averaged 5.5 points and 2.8 rebounds, including a career-high 13 points at the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 11.
The Los Angeles native also played with the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League team during this past offseason.
The Oregon State product played with the Maine Red Claws from 2014-16, averaging 15.6 points per game and more than 6 rebounds in both seasons.
