The Mad Ants split their preseason scrimmages, defeating the Grand Rapids Drive 42-36 and losing to the Canton Charge 55-47 in a set of half games in Dearborn, Michigan, today.
In the first game, against the Charge, Fort Wayne was led by JaKeenan Gant’s 16 points and Naz Mitrou-Long’s 12 points and three assists. The Mad Ants went on a 15-4 run to take a 37-33 lead with 8:53 left in the game, but they sagged at the end. Canton’s J.P. Macura had 12 points.
Against the Drive, Fort Wayne got 14 points from Gant and 10 from Javon Mooring. D.J. McCall, who attended Concordia High School, had four points and three rebounds. Former PFW player Kason Harrell had five points and four rebounds, including a half-court shot to end the first quarter.
Grand Rapids, which scored the first nine points, was paced by Louis King’s eight points.
