Here’s the good news for the Mad Ants: Naz Mitrou-Long is expected back from the NBA’s Indiana Pacers for the next game. And that game will be at Memorial Coliseum, 5 p.m. Sunday against the Windy City Bulls.
The Mad Ants need any good news they can get after their franchise-worst start was extended to 0-6 with a 111-96 loss Friday to the Grand Rapids Drive at Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Brian Bowen II was back with the Mad Ants from the Pacers on Friday, and he had seven points on 2-of-9 shooting with eight rebounds.
The Mad Ants were led by Travin Thibodeaux’s 19 points and nine rebounds. Ike Nwamu had 17 points. Jovan Mooring added 13 for the Mad Ants.
Grand Rapids (6-2) was paced by Sekou Doumbouya’s 23 points and eight rebounds. Jordan Bone added 17 points.
Fort Wayne shot 46% from the field. Grand Rapids shot 49%.
The Mad Ants trailed 57-47 at halftime, at which point they’d shot 47% and the Drive 51%.
Doumbouya had 17 first-half points on 6-of-8 shooting for the Drive. Fort Wayne’s Mooring had 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
Former Mad Ants player Tra-Deon Hollins had two points and seven assists for the Drive. Fort Wayne-native D.J. McCall played 18 minutes for the Mad Ants and had four points and four rebounds.
