IPFW, still smarting from Thursday night’s loss to Nebraska-Omaha, roared out to a fast start en route to a 41-33 halftime lead over Western Illinois on Saturday.

IPFW held leads of 21-10 and 23-13 before Western Illinois closed to within a single point twice. The Mastodons ended the half on a 12-5 run.

Western Illinois shot 41 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from beyond the arc.
IPFW made its first five shots from the field, including three 3-pointers. It didn’t miss a shot until the 16:18 mark of the first half.
