Defending NAIA national champion Saint Francis put three players on the College Football America 2017 Yearbook NAIA Starting Lineup, it was announced Sunday.

The Cougars, who beat Baker (Kansas) 38-17 in the NAIA title game for the program's first national championship, had running back Justin Green, linebacker Piercen Harnish and defensive tackle Justin Hemmelgarn on the preseason All-America team.

Green rushed for 1,367 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2016. Harnish led the Cougars with 130 tackles, including three sacks and an interception. Hemmelgarn had 63 tackles, 11 sacks and a national-best 25 1/2 tackles for loss.

Marian offensive tackle Logan Glaze, a Leo graduate, also made the team.

Baker placed four players on the team, quarterback Logan Brettell, receiver/running back Cornell Brown, receiver Clarence Clark and defensive lineman Josh Kock.

Three programs had two players each on the team – Warner had offensive lineman Dajshon Oliver and defensive lineman Drew Clark; Lindsey Wilson’s Tony Brackins made it as a defensive back and Allen Cooks as the punt returner, while Dickinson State landed linebacker Thomas Sease and defensive back Cain Boschee on the squad.
