Alex Potter scored his first goal of the season with 36 seconds left in the overtime as the No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech men’s hockey opened WHAC play Friday with a 3-2 win over Aquinas at Southside Ice Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Three different Warriors scored while Ryan O’Toole made 28 saves to get his first win of the season.
The Saints struck first with 4:17 left in the first period, but Tech answered back with a goal from Fabian Franqvist at 16:26 in the second, his first goal of the season. Ryan Attwood put the Warriors up 2-1 just two minutes later as he converted a short-handed opportunity.
Aquinas tied the game at 2 with just under six minutes to go in the period. In the third period O’Toole made eight saves while Saints goalie Roman Malkov stopped 12.
Tech (3-1-0, 1-0-0 WHAC) concludes its weekend set at 5:30 p.m. Saturday as they play host to the Saints at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
