FRASER, Mich. – The No. 4-ranked Indiana Tech men’s hockey team defeated Rochester, 5-2, Saturday in WHAC action at Fraser Hockeyland.
“Our special teams weren’t the greatest today, but I’m proud of our guys battling through a short turnaround time from last night’s game,” head coach Frank DiCristofaro said in a team news release.
Joel Holmberg put the Warriors 1-0 at the 13:06, while Mike Tish broke a 1-all tie at the 7:48 mark in the second to put Tech up 2-1. Cameron Wirick made it a 3-1 game just over 90 seconds away from the second intermission on a short-handed opportunity.
Bobby Frieson made it 4-1 just under four minutes into the third while Zach Bennett made it 5-2 at the 4:25 mark in the third to respond to a Rochester goal scored just over a minute before.
Ryan O’Toole made 12 saves in the win to improve to 4-2 while seven different Warriors recorded assists.
Tech (11-2-0, 7-1-0 WHAC) returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday as they play host to Concordia (Mich.) to start a home-and-home set.
