Glynn Hines praises hero of Tennessee shooting

Speaking at the end of Tuesday's Fort Wayne City Council meeting, Councilman Glynn Hines, D-6th, praised the hero of the Antioch, Tennessee, Waffle House shooting and called for a ban on AR-15-style weapons.

James Shaw, Jr. was lauded as a hero after thwarting a shooter with an AR-15-type rifle who shot and killed four people outside a Waffle House near Nashville, Tennessee. Shaw rejected claims that he is a hero, stating that he only confronted the shooter to save his own life.

"He in fact is a hero and it just goes to show that we need to get the AR-15 assault weapon out of the hands (of dangerous people)," Hines said to scattered applause from the audience.
