Allen Right to Life endorses candidates

Brian Francisco | Washington editor

The Allen County Right to Life Political Action Committee, which opposes abortion rights, has endorsed Republican candidates for 17 federal, state and county offices in the May 3 primary election.

In two instances, the PAC endorsed more than one contender for the same office.

The PAC is supporting state Sens. Jim Banks of Columbia City and Liz Brown of Fort Wayne, who are among six Republicans vying for their party's nomination in the 3rd Congressional District.

Banks' wife, Amanda Banks, is vice president of the Right to Life board of directors.

The PAC endorsed two candidates for the GOP nomination in Indiana Senate District 16 -- Senate President Pro Tem David Long of Fort Wayne and his challenger, John Kessler.

The PAC is backing U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman for the U.S. Senate nomination and Gov. Mike Pence, who is unopposed in the primary election.

Other candidates endorsed by the PAC include state Reps. Daniel Leonard, Ben Smaltz, Matthew Lehman, Martin Carbaugh, David Ober, Christopher Judy, Bob Morris and Casey Cox, plus Christian Skordos, who is unopposed for the GOP nomination in House District 80 in south Fort Wayne.

Also endorsed were Allen County Surveyor Allen Frisinger, District 1 Commissioner Nelson Peters, at-large County Councilman Roy Buskirk, treasurer candidate William Royce and council at-large candidate Mark Hagar.
