Carroll beats Homestead in baseball


The Carroll baseball team scored six runs in the fourth and four more in the seventh to beat host Homestead 13-2 on Friday.

Hayden Jones was 3 for 4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored for the Chargers. Riley Perlich added three RBI and two hits. 

Austin Kresl allowed five hits and two earned runs in five innings to get the win. 

Isaac Bair led the Spartans with two hits and an RBI.



WAYNE 2, BISHOP LUERS 1: Leontae Warren got the win as the host Generals beat the Knights. Luers had just one hit. 

NORTHROP 3, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 1: The visiting Bruins scored two runs in the sixth inning to break a 1-all tie. Jack Hayden had a double for Northrop, and Ryan Bakle picked up the win.

HERITAGE 13, WOODLAN 0: Andrew Frank's 3-hitter led the Patriots past the host Warriors. Bobby Lomow led the Heritage offense by going 4 for 5, including two doubles and a triple, with three runs scored and two RBI. 

NORTHWOOD 8, WAWASEE 7: The host Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to beat the Warriors in extra innings. Wawasee scored two runs in the seventh to tie the score at 6 and then scored another run in the seventh to take a 7-6 lead. 


DEKALB 170, EAST NOBLE 189: Bailey Clark's 39 earned medalist honors and helped the Barons past the Knights at Bridgewater. Jacob Williams added a 41 for DeKalb,while Brock Kerst and Damian Bowker each shot a 43 for East Noble.


CARROLL 5, CANTERBURY 0: The Chargers improved to 7-0 with the win over the Cavaliers. Sydney Jackson won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles over Samantha Becker to lead the way.

NORWELL 5, WAYNE 0: The host Knights gave up only four games in beating the Generals. Norwell's No. 2 doubles team of Abby Hoover and Ashlee Xayyachack won 6-2, 6-2 over Deborah Martinez and Casey Chapman. 


HOMESTEAD 4, NORWELL 1: The host Spartans scored two runs in both the third and fourth inning to help get past the Knights. Homestead outhit Norwell 11-4.
