The Carroll and Huntington North girls tennis teams cruised into the Carroll Regional finals with 5-0 wins in semifinal matches Tuesday afternoon.
The host Chargers remained undefeated with a win over Homestead in which they did not lose a set. Senior Sydney Jackson beat the Spartans' Jenna Lewis 6-0, 6-2 in the top singles match and Katelyn VanWyngarden and Bailey Newman also won singles matches.
Huntington North beat Concordia and only lost one set in doing so. Jessica Henline and Kassidy Thompson both won singles matches in straight sets for the Vikings and Macy Wohlford and Jule Nogaj won their doubles match 6-0, 6-0.
Huntington North and Carroll will play for the regional title today.
In sectional singles competition at Carroll, Bishop Luers' Caroline Rahrig remained undefeated with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Breann Barger of Norwell. Snider's Chloe Smithley also advanced after beating Bluffton's Hannah Gerber 6-4, 6-2.
NORTH SIDE 7, WAYNE 1: The Legends (4-18) scored in four straight innings to start the game and Abbi Ross got the win at Homestead.
BELLMONT 7, MISSISSINEWA 1: The Braves (21-1) held Mississinewa (12-12) to just one hit and sophomore Macy Montgomery got the win at Norwell.
SOUTH ADAMS 6, CANTERBURY 5: South Adams (14-6) scored two runs in the seventh to tie the game and then won it in the eighth at Bluffton. Reiley Brown pitched a complete game for the Cavaliers (6-9), but took the loss.
