Wayne earned it's most commanding win of the season by far Wednesday afternoon, beating North Side 76-45 in the first round of the SAC Holiday Tournament.
The Generals (4-4) took control quickly, with Cam Starks hitting the first bucket of the game and 6-foot-6 Darius Alexander making a shot despite being fouled and hitting his free-throw. Seven different Generals players would score in the first quarter, building a 20-4 lead.
Craig Young, playing in front of a Fort Wayne crowd for the first time since announcing his intention to rejoin the team last week, went up for his first bucket in the second quarter. He would score four of the first five baskets of the period as the Generals took a 31-4 lead, with the only interruption coming from a 3-pointer by Wayne's Andre Beasley. Beasley and Young would each score a team-high 10 points, despite Young playing limited minutes in his return.
North Side's 6-foot-7 Mike Scott led all scorers with 13 points in three quarters of play, and well into the third quarter was the only Legend who could get much started on offense.
But the Generals thrived by spreading around the ball: Michael Redding and Shawn Ferrell both scored eight points, while Timon Kinnie, Alexander and Sam Young all scored seven for Wayne.
