Concordia pulled away from Bishop Luers in the fourth quarter to secure a 42-28 win and a spot in the semifinals of the SAC Holiday Tournament.
Concordia's Carissa Garcia ended the first quarter by stealing the ball, dashing down the court and hitting a layup at the buzzer. The referee called a foul on the play, and she hit the free throw with no time on the clock to put the Cadets ahead 12-6.
But the Knights kept it close in the second quarter, as Anna Parent made the first bucket of the period and Katelynn Gray scored five points to go into halftime down 19-15.
The Cadets (12-2) appeared to take control in the fourth quarter, when Elle Fritcha hit a 3-point shot to put Concordia up by eight and Nautica Rogers followed with a 3 of her own (her first of the season), a steal and two made free throws to go ahead 36-23.
Bishop Luers (7-6) fought back, taking the ball away from Concordia as Delaney Bailey scored and Dori Jarvins hit two shots to bring the Cadets back within eight points. But Garcia and Rogers took control once again, combining for six unanswered points to end the game. Rogers led all scorers with 19 points, and Garcia had 15.
Parent and Jarvins each scored eight points for Bishop Luers. Junior Lydia Reimbold, one of the Knights' top scorers, did not play in the game.
The Cadets will face the winner of tonight's South Side vs. Northrop matchup in the semifinals.
