Luke Goode scored 31 points to lead the Homestead boys over Snider 65-49 for its first SAC tournament title Friday at Wayne. Goode shot 6-of-8 on 3-pointers and scored 22 points for the Spartans in their semifinal.
Snider mounted a comeback from a double-digit deficit in the final minutes of Friday morning's semifinal, but they couldn't repeat the feat in the final.
Goode scored 20 points in the first half to give the Spartans a 30-24 edge. But Snider, instead of finding a second gear as they did against Northrop, fizzled in the third quarter and never got back up to speed. Zak Krueger, meanwhile, started heating up, hitting five consecutive shots in the third quarter. He finished the game with 21 points and seven rebounds.
The Spartans held on to the ball for long sections of the final minutes, but Dillon Duff finished with 17 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers. Airyan Thomas had nine.
Michael Eley, who scored 18 points against Northrop, was limited to just two.
The girls semifinals will be played at 10 a.m. and noon at Wayne tomorrow, and the final will follow at 7 p.m.
