LOGANSPORT – Zionsville's Isaiah Thompson put on a virtuoso performance in the first half of the second Logansport regional semifinal, giving the Eagles a big enough lead to beat Huntington North 52-41 and end the Vikings' longest playoff run since 2001.
Huntington North's Trey Williams scored two early 3-pointers to rev up the crowd, but Thompson soon took control, scoring eight straight points to give the Eagles (21-5) a 13-6 lead.
Thompson scored 18 points in the first 10 minutes of the game, almost single-handedly giving the Eagles a 26-25 halftime lead.
He wouldn't hit another field goal in the game, but by that point his teammates were ready to take the wheel, building a lead of as many as 18 points late in the game.
Thompson finished with 24 points while teammate Ben Weidner scored 10 and Nathan Childress added eight to go with eight rebounds.
Sawyer Stoltz was the Vikings' leading scorer with 12 points, half of them from the foul line, and Zach Daugherty scored nine.
Huntington North, which won its first sectional title in 18 years last weekend, ends the season 22-5.
