Bellmont pitcher throws perfect game in softball


Bellmont pitcher Macy Montgomery threw a perfect game, striking out 12 of the 15 batters she faced in a 17-0 win at Eastside in five innings Tuesday. 

Montgomery also went 3 for 3 with a double, three RBI, three runs scored and two walks. Catcher Tori Miller went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, three RBI and three runs scored for the Braves (6-0). 

COLUMBIA CITY 14, WARSAW 3: At Columbia City, Abby Pequignot hit two home runs and drove in seven to lead the undefeated Eagles (6-0) to a home victory. 

SOUTH ADAMS 4, HOMESTEAD 2: At Homestead, Anna Nussbaum threw a complete game and struck out 10 for the Starfires (7-1), who scored three runs in the sixth to take a 4-1 lead. Homestead's Rylee Norton homered.


CARROLL 10, COLUMBIA CITY 4: At Columbia City, Lincoln Lantz went 3 for 5 with three runs scored and two RBI to pace the Chargers (8-3). Cam Harris went 2 for 4 with two RBI for the Eagles (2-4).

DEKALB 18, BLACKHAWK 8: At DeKalb, Easton Rhodes smashed two home runs to lead the Barons (6-3). Tyler Stahl tripled twice and scored three times for DeKalb, while Abe Hicks went 3 for 3 with a double for the Braves (2-5).


CARROLL 5, ADAMS CENTRAL 0: At Carroll, the Chargers (6-0) didn't lose set. Katelyn VanWyngarden, Mia Toscos, Bailey Newman won singles matches.


COLUMBIA CITY 165, HUNTINGTON NORTH 184: At Eagle Glen Golf Club in Columbia City, Alex Hedrick had a match-best 3-over 39 and Zach Harker added a 40 for the Eagles (15-3).

SNIDER 182, SOUTH SIDE 192: Cage Lewman shot 40 and Samuel James chipped in a 43 to lead the Panthers, while Sean Ignacio had a 40 for South Side.

BLUFFTON 179, SOUTHERN WELLS 207: At Bluffton, Spencer Schwartz fired a 38 to propel the Tigers to a win.
