IHSAA sectional assignments released

The IHSAA released adjusted sectional alignments for football, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball and volleyball on Monday. The new sectional assignments will be in effect for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. 

In football, 2018 Class 4A champion Bishop Dwenger moved up a classification and now shares Class 5A sectional 11 with Northrop and Snider, which both dropped down from Class 6A, as well as North Side. Bishop Luers, which reached semi-state in Class 3A last season, is now in Class 2A Sectional 35, which includes Woodlan, Bluffton, Central Noble, Eastside, Fairfield, Prairie Heights and Whitko. Adams Central and Churubusco remain in the same sectional, Sectional 44, but ACAC rival South Adams is now in a different sectional from those opponents. 

In boys basketball, defending Class A champion Blackhawk Christian has moved up to Class 2A, where the Braves will face Adams Central, Bluffton, Canterbury, Manchester, South Adams, Wabash and Whiko in Sectional 36. New Haven moved up to Class 4A because of increased enrollment, and will now compete in Sectional 6 with Columbia City, South Side, Wayne, Homestead and Huntington North. The Columbia City girls have also joined Class 4A, and the girls' Sectional 6 will have the same lineup of teams.

Bishop Dwenger boys basketball has moved down to Class 3A, where the Saints will join Angola, Bishop Luers, Concordia, Garrett, Leo and Woodlan in Sectional 22. Fairfield boys and girls have both moved down to Class 2A. The boys will play in Sectional 35 alongside Bremen, Central Noble, Churubusco, Eastside, Prairie Heights, and Westview. Girls sectional 35 includes Bremen, LaVille, Prairie Heights, South Bend Career Academy and Westview. 

The 2017-2018 Class 2A girls champion Central Noble has moved up to Class 3A, and is now in Sectional 21 along with Lakeland, NorthWood, Tippecanoe Valley, Wawasee and West Noble.

In boys soccer, 2018 Class A champion Canterbury moved up to Class 2A and will compete in Sectional 22 with Culver Academies, Concordia, Manchester, Rochester Community and Tippecanoe Valley.
