Bishop Dwenger wins SAC tennis title


The Bishop Dwenger tennis team defeated Northrop 5-0 at Zollner on Thursday to claim the SAC Championship.

Andrew Nuerge defeated Evan Kytta 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Jacob Schroeder defeated Aiden Baker 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Ricky Nill beat Johnny Tran 6-0, 6-0 at the third singles spot. At No. 1 doubles, Brayden LaPan and Adam Yaggy beat Dakota Mace and Jagger Clayton 6-2, 6-0. At No.2 doubles, Nathan Busch and Daniel Cashbayh beat Kyle Heller and Saivan Claudio 6-0, 6-0.

CONCORDIA 5, BISHOP LUERS 0: At Luers, Concordia’s Ben Gerig beat Henry Kiracofe 6-0, 6-0 to get the points started at the No. 1 singles spot. Mason Pickett and Jon Pickett beat Teddy McComb and Donaldo Carrillo 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

FREMONT 5, LAKELAND 0: In LaGrange, the No. 2 doubles team of Alex Chilenski and Isaac Hirschy narrowly defeated Lakeland’s Tommy Curtis and Ben Keil 6-7 (12-10), 6-4, 6-4 in the most exciting point of the day.


LEO 3, NORWELL 0: At Leo, the Lions won 25-10, 25-17, 25-9. Brooke Smith led the Lions in kills with 12 and Belle Hogan added six aces.

CONCORDIA 3, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 0: At Concordia, the Cadets swept the Braves 25-17, 25-17, 25-20. Julia Nagy had 17 kills for Blackhawk in the loss.

BELLMONT 3, NEW HAVEN 0: At New Haven, the Braves improve to 9-7 with set wins of 25-21, 25-18, 25-19. Emilee Scheumann led the Braves with 13 kills and Emma McMahon added seven aces in the win.

Girls soccer

CARROLL 3, NORTHROP 0: At Northrop, the Chargers got goals from Sarah Mullins, Maddy Welker and Kelsi Hoot scored for the visitors.

Boys soccer

CARROLL 4, NORTHROP 0: At Carroll, the Chargers got goals from Sam Michaels, Michael Frank, Nick Harding and Eric Hull. Logan Gonzalez and Parker Augenstein combined for the shutout.


WAYNE 182, ADAMS CENTRAL 208: At Brookwood, Wayne’s Molly Brehm shot a low score of 39 to earn medalist honors. Madison Bebout shot a 49 to post the best Adams Central score.

CARROLL 208, SNIDER 219: At Canterbury Greens, Melissa Francis had the low score of the day for the Chargers with a 39. Abby Mayhew shot a 41 to have the lowest score for the Panthers.

CONCORDIA 171, NEW HAVEN 211: At McMillen Park, Kylee Marks shot a 40 to earn medalist honors for the Cadets. Lily Bohde had the low score for the Bulldogs with a 44.

COLUMBIA CITY 186, WHITKO 197: At Eagle Glen, Katie Hoag shot a 39 to earn medalist honors for the Eagles. Bailey Wright and Gus Gar each shot a 47 to have the low scores for Whitko.
