Blackhawk Christian will play for its third sectional title in six seasons, knocking off Fremont on Friday at home, 46-37, in Class 1A semifinal action. The Braves (17-7) never trailed, getting 15 points from Hailee Kline to keep the Eagles (12-11) at arm’s reach throughout. Macayla Guthrie led Fremont with 15.
SOUTH SIDE 89, WAYNE 29: At South Side, the Archers had little trouble reserving a spot to face Homestead for the third time this season. South Side (16-9) seeks its second sectional title in three years; Wayne (4-18) dropped 6-of-7 to end the year.
NORTHROP 43, DEKALB 26: In the Kendallville opener, an 18-point, nine-rebound effort from Destiny Jackson pushed the Bruins into tonight’s sectional title game. Northrop (15-10) will seek its first regional berth since 2009, while DeKalb (3-19) closed the year going 1-6 in its last seven.
CARROLL 70, EAST NOBLE 37: In the second game in Kendallville, Taylor Fordyce’s 12 points led five Chargers with at least seven. Carroll (16-6) will play for its fourth straight sectional title, having split two games against Northrop this season.
WARSAW 46, ELKHART CENTRAL 35: In Warsaw, the Tigers will get a rematch against Penn, a game the Kingsmen won 41-28 on Nov. 26, for the sectional title. Warsaw improved to 16-7.
CONCORDIA 42, ANGOLA 32: At Concordia, the Cadets ended the Hornets’ 20-game win streak by holding Angola without a field goal in the fourth quarter. Grace Hedtke led Concordia (14-9) with 11 points, as did Hanna Knoll for Angola (21-3).
NORWELL 59, MISSISSINEWA 55: In Gas City, Kaylee Fuelling scored 21 points and Maiah Shelton added 16 as the Knights (20-4) advanced, playing tonight seeking their eighth sectional title in 10 years.
BELLMONT 44, OAK HILL 37: In Gas City, the Braves set up an all-NE8 title game in Class 3A thanks to 14 points from Meghan Busick. Bellmont (17-7) lost the regular-season matchup to Norwell, 36-32.
LAKELAND 56, CENTRAL NOBLE 38: In the opener in LaGrange, the Lakers qualified for their first sectional title game since 1998, avenging a 56-38 loss to the Cougars on Nov. 26. Lydia Andrews’ 13 points paced Central Noble (14-9).
NORTHWOOD 40, WEST NOBLE 36: In the second game in LaGrange, the Panthers advanced, handing Chargers coach Dale Marano the final loss of his career as he announced last week he would retire from coaching after this season. Lilly Mast led West Noble (10-13) with 17 points.
ADAMS CENTRAL 70, CANTERBURY 8: In the first game in Bluffton, the Flying Jets landed in today’s title game, leading by 40 points at halftime. Adams Central (18-7) won its sixth straight; Canterbury (2-17) was held to its season low in points.
BLUFFTON 42, SOUTH ADAMS 38 (OT): In the second game in Bluffton, Olivia King scored 14 points as the Tigers (9-15) defeated the Starfires (12-12) for the second time in three matchups this year.
ELKHART CHRISTIAN 48, LAKEWOOD PARK 27: At Blackhawk Christian, the Eagles won the opener to earn the right to play for their first-ever sectional championship. Frannie Talarico led Lakewood Park (10-12) with 13 points.
SOUTHWOOD 63, LAKELAND CHRISTIAN 34: In Denver, Lakeland Christian (10-14) got 10 points and nine rebounds from Tori Calizo.
