Homestead's Goode has record night against North Side

Homestead senior Luke Goode scored a career-high 41 points as the Spartans (15-0, 5-0 SAC) beat North Side (4-8, 2-3) 107-61 on Friday night. Goode hit a school-record 10 3-pointers and the Spartans also broke the team record with 18 treys overall. 

Homestead led 58-30 at halftime after hitting 10 of 16 3-point attempts and committing just one turnover. 

Junior Fletcher Loyer scored 20 points for the Spartans and Grant Simmons scored 13.

Junior Rodney Woods led the Legends with 17 points and senior Isaiah Moore scored 15. 

The Spartans, who are ranked No. 2 in the IBCA poll, will play No. 1 Lawrence North (14-0) in a battle of unbeatens on Saturday evening. 

Girls Basketball 

Garrett 49, West Noble 42: At Lingonier, the Railroaders (16-2, 8-0 NECC) ended the game on a 12-2 to earn a share of the NECC regular-season title for the first time since rejoining the conference before the 2014-2015 season. Bailey Kelham scored 16 points for the Railroaders, Faith Owen and Morgan Ostrowski scored 12 points each, and Ostrowski had 10 rebounds. Mackensy Mabie, Lillian Mast and Nichelle Phares each scored 11 points for the Chargers (15-5, 8-2). Garrett can clinch an outright conference title with a win over Fremont on Tuesday. 

Northrop  54, Wayne 42: Bruins senior TiAuna White joined the 1,000-point club in the first half on a jump shot made from in front of the Wayne bench. Northrop (8-8, 2-6) called timeout immediately afterward to allow her teammates to run from the bench to embrace her. White led her team with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Amanda Thatcher scored nine points and had four rebounds, and Jasmine Perry scored eight points and had three rebounds and three assists. Wayne fell to 6-10 and 1-5 in conference play. Both the girls and boys game were moved from Northrop to Wayne on Friday.

Boys Basketball 

Heritage 59, Woodlan 56, OT: At Monroeville, the Patriots (10-10, 4-2 ACAC) came back from a 34-17 deficit in the first half to win in overtime. Luke Saylor scored 22 points and had six assists, three rebounds and two steals. Dalton Wasson scored 15 points and had five rebounds, and Kiel Eldridge scored 12 points and had seven rebounds. Joe Reidy scored 22 points for the Warriors (7-11, 2-3) and Alex Miller had 19. Braden Smith scored 13. 

Northrop 58, Wayne 55: At Wayne, the Generals (4-10, 0-5 SAC) trailed 21-15 at halftime, but stuck with the Bruins (4-5, 2-2) to force a close game. Northrop's Khamani Smith had a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds, and Jaydon Smith scored 14 points. Christian Flanagan scored 11 points for the Generals and Ja'Shan Hargrave and Jevon Lewis each scored 10. 

Carroll 53, South Side 44: At Carroll, the teams were tied at 23 at halftime, but the Chargers (9-2, 4-0 SAC) pulled away from the Archers (4-7, 2-3) in the second half. Carroll's Jalen Jackson led all scorers with 27 points and had 14 rebounds and four assists. He was the only Charger to score in double-digits. Austin Jordan led South Side with 15 points, and Ashton Johnson scored 14.
