Two local athletes, South Side senior Ashton Johnson and Warsaw senior Kacilyn Krebs, have been named Indiana Basketball Coaches Association players of the week.
Johnson is the boys District 1 Player of the Week for Dec. 20 to 25 after the Archers beat South Bend Adams 62-47 on Dec. 21. He shot nine for 14 for 22 points with three rebounds, seven assists and six steals.
Krebs was the girls District 1 Player of the Week based on her 24-point performance in a 66-39 upset of IBCA No. 7 Lake Central on Wednesday. She shot six for 10 from three-point range with seven rebounds, five assists and a steal.
Other local nominees included Chris Hood of East Noble, Fletcher Loyer of Homestead, Trey Schoch of South Adams and Bailey Kelham of Garrett.
The District 2 Players of the Week are Mount Verson senior Armon Jarrard and Zionsville junior Laila Hull, and the District 3 honorees are Barr-Reeve senior Hagen Knepp and Bedford North Lawrence sophomore Chloe Spreen.
